Separate from the document processing settings, preferences are basic program options that are not changed when settings files are loaded. Preferences are stored in a file in the Preferences folder within the System Folder. All preference menu items are attached to the Edit menu. Choose the General… menu item to open the Add/Strip™ Preferences window. This window is divided into four distinct areas: Processing, Interface, Naming, and Browsing. The Processing area contains a pop-up menu and a series of checkboxes that toggle various file processing behaviors. The Interface area contains a series of checkboxes that toggle various user interface behaviors. The Naming area allows a user to specify a character string to be used as a prefix or suffix to the suggested output file or folder. The Browsing area allows a user to specify various option relating to how the text is displayed when browsing a file. Choose the Folders… menu item to open the Folders Preferences window. This window is used to choose the folder containing favorite settings files and the input and output folders used for automatic processing. Choose the Open Events… menu item to open the Open Events Preferences window. This window is used to control how TEXT files are handled when they are dropped onto the A/S desktop icon. This menu item is only available if AppleEvents are supported by the system. Documents that are dragged and dropped on the A/S desktop icon are processed in alphabetical order. If settings documents and TEXT documents are dropped together, the settings documents are opened first. Opening a settings file through dragging and dropping onto the A/S icon in the Finder or by an Open AppleEvent always causes A/S to attempt to load the settings contained in that file. A/S will quit immediately after processing when only TEXT files are dropped onto the A/S desktop icon and processed. Choose the Print Items… menu item to open the Printing Preferences window. This window is used to control which processing settings are included when printing settings.
